That for the cost of one crappy WWE or TNA PPV you can sponsor a starving child in Ethiopia? Or, even better, you can get two Ring of Honor DVDs? This is a serious question. Everyone who's read about wrestling online (meaning all the people in this section, presumeably) have no doubt at least *heard* of ROH, and how good it is. So why aren't more people willing to give it a chance when they're so willing to dump money into horrible "sports entertainment".

For those that don't know ROH is an independent promotion based in the northeast US that also does shows in the midwest and occasionally the UK. They are much more wrestling oriented then WWE or even TNA, but their recent shows have added more entertainment while remaining wrestling based. They've really hit their stride in terms of booking, I think. Anyway, go to www.rohwrestling.com to find out more, and www.rohvideos.com to check out some clips.

I know people are free to spend their money how they want, I'm just making a suggestion, especially if you buy WWE or TNA PPVs (specifically WWE, since TNA PPVs at least have *some* good wrestling on them). If you're just buying all these things, next time you see a weak WWE or TNA card I would challenge you to take the $40 you were going to spend, and check out a couple of ROH shows. If you are just watching WWE and TNA's tv shows, this isn't neccesarilly for you.
And I'm not saying being a WWE fan exclusively doesn't make you a wrestling fan. Someone else did. But really, in a way, WWE is too. I mean, it's not wrestling anymore, they'll tell you themselves it's sports entertainment...

Preach it brother! Ring of Honor has helped produce some of the greatest wrestlers of this generation (C.M. Punk, Samoa Joe, Colt Cabana, Bryan Danielson).
I really wish Punk would have stayed in ROH, because I just don't see him going anywhere in the WWE anytime soon. He's being held back by corporate narcissism and jealousy.
Buy some ROH DVD's people and see what real wrestling looks like.

You can be a wrestling fan and never have heard of ROH. The only reason I know of it is through wrestling news sites. I've been a wrestling fan for almost 20 years and I've never watched ROH. That doesn't mean I'm not a "true" wrestling fan. I know plenty of people that never heard of ROH that are long time wrestling fans. Fact of the matter is WWE has been and still is the leading wrestling organization (except in the mid 90's when WCW ruled the WWF) so that is obviously the organization most wrestling fans watch. So don't strip people of being wrestling fans because they haven't heard of ROH.
Anyway, it's up to ROH to promote themselves to the masses. WWE started somewhere. So did WCW, ECW, and TNA. They all didn't grow overnight. Obviously at this day in age most wrestling fans won't know what ROH is or what it stands for. They gotta do what every other organization did. And that is promote themselves, turn a profit, and grow over time.
So I don't doubt ROH is good. I bet it is good. I'm sure the wrestlers are very talented, and hopefully they will grow into TNA and WWE or whatever organization is televised to the masses. Maybe someday in the future ROH will be that leading organization, maybe not (and probably not). But until it is (if it even will be), most wrestling fans will not know of it.

People like what they like and somebody telling them to spend their money on starving children in Ethiopia isn't going to change their minds. Some peope aren't hardcore wrestling fans and don't watch strictly for the wrestling. I, for one, am one of those people. I like being entertained, I like seeing what **** the WWE comes up with and mock them mercilessly. If I want to see real wrestling on ocassion, I'll turn it to TNA on Thursday nights. I'd give ROH a chance, but it doesn't broadcast here and I'm not willing to spend my money on something I may or may not end up liking.

1rst of all, if you dont know what Ring of Honor is, hate to tell you, but youre not a wrestling fan.
I think it depends on what the people want. Personally, i wondered a similar question on why people would spend money on something like the NYR ppv that was tonight for storylines and recognizable faces but horrible wrestling, when you could get the TNA final resolution ppv in about a week and actually see talented wrestlers like Angle vs Joe, or Christopher Daniels and AJ styles.

RoH is decent. It's kinda like the mid 90s, all over again. Two bigs and one small-time promotion trying to upstage them. Will RoH ever be as big as ECW was though, is the question. The issue will be Jeff Jarrett and Vinnie Mac scouting the talent and bringing them to the "Big Two". In fact, that's already the case, isn't it? Hello C.M. Punk and Samoa Joe >.>
Edit: Seems I'm the only one so far who's heard of Ring of Honor, huh?

I have read a lot of good things about ROH, from guys like Lance Storm and Mick Foley, and I think I will check it out. To be honest with you one of the reasons I still watch WWE is because I know wrestling usually goes in cycles, good like the middle to late eighties, bad, early to mid nine tees with things like Doink the clown and the Gobblygooker, and then good with the late nine-tees with the attitude era and Monday Night Wars. I guess I'm just waiting for Vince to turn things around, and for another high period again. Maybe in vain.

Ummm just because your a fan of starving child from ethiopia doesnt give you the right to tell us what we can or can not do with our money. You are willing to waste time posting questions about hating on wrestling but not spend time with the starving children in Ethopia?!

ROH is good, good quality of wrestling but its too regional, and has no production value or money behind it. The wrestling does put WWE to shame though

And did you know that its OUR money and we can do whatever we want with our money?? Yeah you could feed the poor, hell I could buy a points card for my Wii or rent a whole bunch of games from Blockbuster, whats your point?
Oh and the reason why ROH isnt big is because of their money situation, if they got more money and sponsors then they could maybe compete with WWE and TNA but that likely wont happen so face it.

WWE is too focused on entertaining and not wrestling. ROH OWNS and their wrestlers have a better workrate, than the WWE.
