You want a child to start learning to be a surgeon?

Well, the best thing to do would be to start by letting them play with Lego's, or Barbie dolls and coloring books. Then you could let them move into learning the alphabet and numbers. From there, you can help them learn to read (always helpful when using medical textbooks). After that, they can take classes like, "Primer Math," and "English" (or whatever language).

Then, when they hit like 3rd grade, they can start learning more complicated things, like how to play dodge ball and soccer.

Eventually, you might even ask the child where their interests lie. I know it's a far-fetched idea, but it might be a positive thing to see if the child has any interest in medicine whatsoever.

Or, you could just start catching the neighborhood strays and giving the kid a knife to practice his or her dissection techniques. At that point, however, it's a crap shoot as to whether you're training a surgeon or a serial killer.

So good luck with that.

If the child is interested in being a surgeon (not sure how young this child is) -- here are things available

1) Science and biology museums -- especially hands-on exhibits
2) Dissection -- start with learning parts of vegetables and fruits-- after all it's biology and skills to use later
3) There are some good "Magic School Bus" videos and books on the human body and age-appropriate for kids 10 and under
4) Keep the child interested and motivated in science and mathematics, that is the key to excel in undergrad school and application to med school

Hope this helps!

Buy the game Operation if their young. Get childrens books about parts of the body, muscles, and things like that that your kid might enjoy reading. Rent educational videos. When your child starts middle school have him/her have them gear their attention to the sciences learned in school. When the child gets in high school he/she can take nutrition and human anatomy type sciences. The stronger your childs grades in sciences the easier it is to get a job in the medical field. I wish someone would have told me that while i was in school.

I wouldn't recommend cutting into anything until the teenage years!
Learning about the body can start pretty early though.

Absolutely! You can teach a child anything you want as early as birth.

pre med courses can be taken in high school, plus any research paper opportunities or interviews they have to do they should talk to doctors and surgeons.
