No,it is not okay and wrong to lie under oath in a court of law. Unfortunately,You have to tell the truth and the whole truth. Remember that the Judges and people who work in the court room knows what is going on in court. They are very smart and they can tell who is lie and who is not? Unfortunately,in my opinion it does not working with the Politicians. Because, politic is a science of lie. This does apply to everyone no matter who they are Lib or Conservative. Too bad.

sure, he lied under oath. And he became acquitted of all rates: WASHINGTON (All Politics, February 12) -- After a three hundred and sixty 5 days crammed with investigations, hearings and a 21-day impeachment trial, President invoice Clinton became acquitted Friday with the aid of the Senate of rates he committed perjury and obstructed justice. What else are you able to declare! Acquittal skill only that! whilst and if Bush is ever dropped at trial, it is going to be a international courtroom to attempt him for crimes against humanity and if the time comes that he's tried with the aid of a US courtroom, he might desire to be charged with the main obvious of lies that have convey approximately the deaths of over 2,500 of our young toddlers, and the deaths of tens of 1000's interior the Mid-East. And of employing acts of terrorism to propel us right into a conflict that has not something in it for the yank human beings and each thing for inner maximum targets we are actually not yet conscious approximately.

If you don't get caught I guess it is ok...just kidding. It is never allowable to lie under oath. if you are caught lieing under oath other than the obvious one of saying "I didn't do it" it is purjury. denieing committing the crime is actually legal, since the burden of proof is on the prosecution. If you at any time feel as though you are being force into a situation where you would incriminate yourself by answering truthfully then you would actually invoke your right to the fifth amendment. you cannot be froced to incriminate yourself in the court of law. if you where order to do so my a judge it would be an easy appeal, but if you get caught lieing, there is no appeal to the sentence. you are at the judges mercy... kind of like comtempt. tough to argue in appelet court how the judge didn't actually feel that you where in comtempt.
Just remember, when in doubt just say, " I invoke my right to the fifth amendment to not inciminate myself by answering that question." of course the jury will crucify you when the deliberate, but at least you didn't lie.

Absoltuely NOT! If the courts find out that anyone lies under oath they will be in contempt of court and may face fines and/or imprisonment. But, if you think about it someone is always lying. I mean the guilty are alway's claiming to be innocent when they know good and well that they are guilty as sin.

No. Perjury, in any court of law in the US, or before a Grand Jury, is punishable by years of imprisonment. Even about personal sexual things.
Unless you are a popular President.
Most of us don't fit this category.

No, you cannot lie about anything while under oath. That is called perjury and it's illegal. You will then be charged and could face jail time.

Only if your name has the initial B.C., and your wife's name is H.C., and your answer is definitely NO, it is perjury to lie under any oath of truth.

if you want to be branded a liar for the rest of your life, and never be trustworthy as far as courtroom testimony is concerned, not to mention up to 2 years in jail for perjury?
