They start at puberty. They are the natural adjustment of males from boyhood to manhood. Some guys remember their dreams and some don't. No, there's no way to tell if they were about you. And they generally stop when guys start an active sex life.
For more info, look up Masters and Johnson, or the Kinsey Report. Best of luck.

A nocturnal emission is an ejaculation of semen experienced during sleep. It is also called a "wet dream", an involuntary orgasm, or simply an orgasm during sleep.

Nocturnal emissions are most common during teenage and early adult years. However, nocturnal emissions may happen any time after puberty. They may or may not be accompanied by erotic dreams. It is possible to wake up during the ejaculation, or to just stay asleep during the ejaculation.

The source of nocturnal emissions is not entirely known, but it is associated with the fact that males typically get an erection often during sleep (this is called nocturnal penile tumescence). A common theory, tacitly assumed by many researchers, is that they are the direct result of the stimulation caused by either erotic dreams, or memories of waking sexual activities.[3] For this reason the term wet dream is also used figuratively for something very pleasurable but often imagined. However, there has been little experimental evidence to support this theory, and many men claim to have had nocturnal emissions without accompanying erotic dreams.

Another common theory is that wet dreams are the way the body disposes of "built-up" semen, clearing the carcinogenic fluids. However, such a theory is unclear as studies showed that there was no significant difference observed in wet dream frequency between men who ejaculated frequently while awake and those who never did. Furthermore, according to the Singapore Science Centre, sperm cells "degenerate and are reabsorbed (broken down and absorbed by the body) in the seminiferous tubules if they are not ejaculated." [1] The occurrence of wet dreams is not so closely related to the absence of other sexual outlets as was once thought.

To know if a guy had a wet dream about you - well, you've to ask him. Or ask his friends - because some guys may relate their wet dreams experience to one another. Or you can ask a guy to ask the guy in question.

Guys start having wet dreams when they're in puberty and adolescence -- the teen years. A wet dream happens when a guy involuntarily ejaculates semen during his sleep as a result of sexually stimulating dreams. There's no way to tell if a guy is having those dreams about you or not, unless he tells you; but even then, you can't be sure whether he's telling the truth or lying.

You're lucky I'm ancient Miss Ally. Here you go. A wet dream is just a male cumming while sleeping. No, they don't jerk off (masturbate) & call that a wet dream.
When it comes to sex, 99% of young guys will lie their butts off (to get into your...). I am glad I was brought up well. No sex till I was in college, and an older student initiated it, not me. That old joke about saying no works, as well as "Keeping an aspirin held tightly between your knees" = good birth control. Meaning - say No. There is No rush. If he won't wait, he isn't worth it. Guys want "notches" in their belt. (conquests). Oh, there is "no way" a wet dream is about you or Gail or Jenny...they just happen. We (guys) do NOT plan on having wet dreams.

People don't have wet dreams about people. It just happens. It is just a natural occurrence. It can start at any age. Roughly when you start puberty.
