How do you know there is a virus attached to it? What anti virus program is telling you that?
Spoolsv.exe is the Spooler service. It is a necessary windows file if you use a printer. You should not delete it unless you have just cause.
What is running at 99%? spoolsv.exe??
If you want to delete spoolsv.exe, you can. Unless you have disabled windows file protection, the file will be replaced almost immediately, however. You will also have to stop the spooler service before deleting.
start > run > services.msc
Scroll down to Print Spooler, right click on it, and choose Stop.
Then you can delete spoolsv.exe from your windows\system32 folder.
Windows will replace it with a good copy from windows\system32\dllcache.

no no no
it may not be a virus
dont delete spoolsv.exe its an important file for your printer to work.
but the folder where the files waiting to be printed are stored may be corrupted with a large unprintable file, a kid tryed to print a video file from the internet on my computer and it made the file spoolsv.exe act up on me like that.
check here on your computer and delete files in that directory and see if it fixes the problem.
C:\windows\system32\spool\ printers
first go to the startmenu go to run and type in services.msc hit enter this will bring up the services and look for print spooler, right click on that and click stop, then go to the directory mentoned above and delete the files in the printers folder, dont worry they are not important files they are print jobs waiting for the spooler but for some reasion they arent printing.
after you delete the files you can start the print spooler service.
this should take care of the problem if its not a virus.
here is a link to tell about the same problem had by others.
http://torque.oncloud8.com/archives/000384.html
Also there is a virus out there that affects this file but you most likely dont have that unless your antivirus told you it found that, in which case you wouldnt be having the problem anymore if you followed the instructions on the antivirus page to remove the virus.
good luck
this worked for me
TV
PS.
this also happened to a bunch of computers at my work it may be caused by a virus that exploited spoolsv.exe or a hacker, because all the computers affected printed alot of strange garbled text before the problem started, but we fixed them all the same way.

Go to either McAfee, Symantec, or Trend Micro and enter the name of the virus into their virus database. You should then be taken to a link for a removal tool for that specific virus. Personally I would start with Symantec as I have used their virus removal tool before and it worked. But I am sure the other two companies will have what you need as well, just partial to Symantec since I use their product.
Update your anti virus software after removing the infection and keep it updated daily to prevent further attacks. Good luck.

Hi spoolsv.exe is windows service which takes care of Printers and Fax services on your computer. But you shouldnt get 99% CPU usage on any service for more than a few seconds unless you are running a DB application or long reports.
Check if your Printer has spooled jobs waiting to print. A common issue would be u try to print and select Microsoft Document writer which is a virtual printer and then select the actual printer.
You should go to Document Writer and cancel the print job.
Hope this will solve your issue.
Some viruses use the same name to run in memory.
If you need any further clarifications please get back to me.

Hi there,
As people have alluded to, Spoolsv.exe can be a good file for your printer - HOWEVER, it is also used by malware writers in order to appear genuine and avoid detection / deletion. Here's an example of a BAD spoolsv.exe:
http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/RRDAJJ6304/spoolsv%252Eexe.html
The best and easiest way to remove this is by installing the Free Trial of Prevx1. This will scan your PC and remove this and any other infections free of charge.
