Did you know that, apart from aluminum cans, recycling actually accelerates global warming and uses more natural resources than simply burying our trash and making new stuff?
Think about it. We have to run these recycling centers. They use lots of electricity. How do we get that electricity? Oil.
Where does the pollution from the oil we burn to run the recycling centers go? The same place all the other pollution from burning oil goes, into our atmosphere.
Because aluminum takes so much energy to separate it from Bauxite ore, it is actually the only material that takes less energy to recycle than it does to make anew.
Trees are a renewable resource. As long as you replant what you cut down, they will always be there.
Oil is really easy to get. We just dig a hole in the ground and it squirts up at us.
Aluminum, however, is really hard to get. We dig the ore up, but it is molecularly bonded to the Bauxite ore. We have to use electrolysis to isolate and use it.
I fully support the recycling of aluminum cans. Anything else, however, simply wastes our already dwindling supplies of natural resources and contributes to the greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere.

Make something out of aluminum cans or anything else to show what can be done with everyday things that are thrown away. Or give a background story about a dolphin dying from something that should have been recycled.

If you can spare a couple bucks the first thing you should do is rip up some money.... its up to you how much but just to be reasonable we will say a 5 dollar bill....after you have the audiences attention... say well noone would just throw away their money right?... well thats what we are doing when we dont recycle.

Tape 25 plastic bottles together and wear them, then take them off to reveal a polyester fleece coat (they're made from recycled plastic bottles). Since every bit of plastic ever made is still on the planet, wouldn't it be better to make something out of them than have to trip over them forever.

you should say something about the effect of not recycling, like "imagine you are playing golf, you made a hole in one and you are very very excited, but when you reach for the ball a geyser of trash explodes in your face, then you find out that the dump is so full that the trash is seeping into the golf course, and that is why we should recycle!" or something ya know ? lol

You might find some cool stuff from some excavations that have been done in landfills - some of the food they found - 20 - 30 years old was still eatable. That was pretty cool. With that in mind you could talk about saving landfill space.
good luck

Most people won't knowingly throw away money, but millions of Americans are literally tossing money into the garbage.
