how do you think the use of the internet will affect shopping in the future?

I bought 80% of Christmas gifts online this year. Christmas shopping online has grown by leaps and bounds every year and I don't see it slowing down any time soon.

I also foresee more "click to buy it online, then go to the store and pick it up" situations happening as brick-and-mortar stores try to keep up with the Amazon.coms.

It's great. It makes it so much easier to comparison shop. It works best for items that you don't need to touch or smell or see in great detail. Things like clothes where a small difference in the feel or the size might change your mind are not so good, but if you have either seen the item in a store or purchased one in the past that can overcome that problem. For items like books, music, electronics, the internet is a great way to shop.

It is still important to deal with reputable established companies as it is very hard to determine the nature of a company only by seeing its web site.

I'm terrified to enter my credit card number on any site. I have no faith in the fact that it will be secured. There are way too many ways for a person to be scammed.
