How common are female loners without friends? Most loners seem to be men?

Hi! There are many! That's why there are nun's and women's communities that use silence as a part of their life. Many women can't stand the chatty, giggely, shoppy, caty, backbiting relationships many women enjoy. I'm one of those who loves my privacy and simple life. It's easier for a man to be a loner in some ways because a man is known to be the logical mind that doesn't need frills. Women are known for their need to be liked. I choose my friends cautiously. My friends don't always need to have my attention. They are loners also and we know we can trust each other if a problem arises, but we don't spend alot of time together. It is very hard to trust women because I have been lied to by many. Actually, my daughter, a missionary, is my very best friend. We have alot of fun--when we can get together. My husband and I have a very close relationship also. 24yrs of a great marriage and we are artists.
I like being a loner. Many people are afraid of being alone for any amount of time----not me! See Ya!

Maybe it only appears that way because male loners are "loners," while female loners are "single."

I would imagine quite uncommon. Women do not need to do much of anything to meet men and are more likely--in my opinion--to make friends more quickly with others of the same gender than are men. It is also typical among human realtives--apes and monkeys and the like--for males to leave a group upon reaching maturity where they would have to fend for themselves or start their own group.

I don't have stats to back it, but I have met some female loners.
However, you are corect, the ratio of female to male seems to be 1:2.5.

I am not single, but I guess I am a loner.I have one close female friend. A few acquaintances. I just prefer it that way. I spend my time with my hubby and kids.
