I'm applying to PhD at a tier 3 university (according to the USnews.com website). I spent ~6 months in 2006 traveling the US, hoping to find that ideal PhD program. I finally found this niche in mid-December. This college may not be top 1 or 2 in the world but it has the research/opportunities relative to my future career/goals.
(I didn't do so well in the GRE but that's my app is pretty good other than that.)

I was wondering: How competitive is admission to grad schools with a tier 3 ranking? (Incase you're wondering, the prog. is Life Science).

Thanks in advance.

It's not hard getting into grad school (everybody wants quasi-slave labor). The course aren't all that difficult either. Where most people fail, is when it comes to researching (no ideas) or writing a thesis (can't write). The tier is not too important. What is important is how many high quality publications you get out of your thesis. Grad school is hell on relationships, particularly where one spouse/lover is underemployed in a university town and the other is studying some esoterica that nobody understands and does not guarantee them a highpaying job.

extremely they're all difficult in spite of the undeniable fact that it relies upon on your learn that you're providing. My daughter has been provided completely paid doctorates at 3 accurate colleges consisting of Berkeley because of her learn and triumphing a good fellowship even as in grad college. All because her deepest undergraduate college required a thesis to get her bachelors. And that she had a very unique theory about highway safe practices once when we were utilising from l. a. to Vegas even as she become 15. What it comes right down to is the way you probably did getting your grad degree and your learn. in case your grad degree learn is a few thing the schoool thinks might want to be revealed and be functional to the international, they are going to come searching for you.
