I have a music recording on a laptop question. Can anyone help?
Why does the audio keep stuttering when recording on a laptop with a firewire interface&external hard drive?
Already tried setting the latency.
Anything else anyone can think of will be a big help

Are you sure you are using the best audio driver? It could also be the buffers that you have. Try adding some more buffer to the signal and it might smooth things out.

you have a latency/syncing problem. What is the master clock? what are you using for the clock? Thats a very common problem that most studios have to deal when they first set-up. Does it soound like a regualar clicking during the playback and recording? Mess around with the clock, if you do movies then set it to that or if you do electronic then set the MTC or w/e you use to sync up you system. If i knew what program you were using and what interface then i could tell you the definite answer.

You most likely have to many programs open while recording. Maybe there is something wrong with the plug of your mic. Only other thing i could think of is you have a really crappy processor.
