I have lots of friends that are lost on what to do with their life... how do i help them gain hope and faith in themselves to try to be the best they can be... without giving them self help quizes and surveys...

i think the most important part is to listen.
sometimes when people have problems, it doenst even matter if the person they talk to has any advice as long as they listen.
and you dont always have to give them advice by saying what you think they should do...sometimes you can give them advice by asking them questions back and making them think about it while they feel like its you giving advice. .....it made sense in my head..now it sounds funny.

sometimes there is more hope for those who understand as u that there are achievement and knowing this deference makes u encouraged, but don't forget how terrible obnoxiously the successful person out there is, most of the people are quiet & humble and lost, when they reqroup and play to win and are successful usually the first person that get clobbered is us in their path to riches, i find helping somepeople by just getting out of their way there so sociopathic aninals and the others are clueless, i would sometimes help someone just by leaving them alone at least this way they only knew what they knew and couldn't be trusted with more information inside my perimeter

First and foremost don't judge them or their actions, no matter how screwed up they may seem to you. If your friends they must have something about them that you admire. Remind them of the strengths you see in them, and then guide them to use those strengths in times of need. Listen more than anything and know your own strengths and weakness on a subject before giving any advice.

Ask them questions and then when they answer, ask them more. If you are involving yourself, you are encouraging them.
You don't have to quiz them, just have a caring conversation and let them know you have faith in them.
