NO. Atheism is a LACK of belief. And no, you're wrong, atheism isn't "against all religion". That's something different. Atheism is simply "being without belief in the existence of a god or gods".
Again, Small but Fierce, a cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion doesn't refer to religion in the sense that it does with Christianity. Religion, in the context of this definition, would be used for exaggerating the significance of the enjoyment of a habit or activity in which one engages.
Like "I love jogging... I do it every day religiously" or "watching baseball is my religion".
It's not meant to imply that "jogging" or "watching baseball" or anything else applicable by the standards of this definition should be considered categorically equivalent to organized religion.
Why should I have to deny something that you've misunderstood? I'm explaining it to you and you're not listening. That's your bad, not mine.
Atheism isn't a religion in ANY sense of the word. I don't persue "being without belief in gods" with zeal. It's simply my stance. I may respond to questions based on this stance, but so too do people who think the 49ers are the best team EVER respond based on their stance. Are they responding religiously?

I guess it depends upon what definition of "religion" people can agree upon. If it is a dictionary definition: then:
most dictionaries include the following definition(s):
"n. 1. a. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers
regarded as creator and governor of the universe. b. A personal or
institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader. 4. A cause, a principle, or an activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion." -
it is difficult to see how atheism could be viewed as a religion using the above definitions.
However, atheism is now viewed as a religion in Wisconsin USA : see http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45874
In the US The Supreme Court has said a religion need not be based on a belief in the existence of a supreme being. In the 1961 case of Torcaso v. Watkins, the court described "secular humanism" as a religion.
Many atheists are against "religion" (ie they are anti-religious) anyway and I doubt they would want to have their perspective called a "religion".

No, atheism is a belief, not a religion. Atheism is a belief that there is no god. However, a religion is an organized belief. Many atheists have different reasons why they don't believe in God. Some do so because they don't want to take the time to think about religions. Others are atheists because they firmly believe that there is no God.
Thus, those who firmly believe that there is no God because they think science contradicts it may be considered a religion because they all believe in the same thing. Even though they do not formally announce that they are organized, they are organized in how they all view the supernatural.

That depends on the definition. Atheism offers no set of beliefs about the world, other than one disbelief.
Secular humanism is more of a religion, although lacking belief in the supernatural, that might be arguable. Probably more of a philosophy. However, I don't have the case in front of me, but the Supreme Court has ruled that Secular Humanism is worthy of protection AS a religion.

*sigh* Atheism isn't "against all religions".
Some individual Atheists might be against all religions. Lots of us find it all interresting. Some of us might even belong to a religion (like Buddhism).
No, it's not a religion. All atheism means is no gods. There are other philosophies we do agree with that state what we do believe... but, again, that's an individual thing.

Who reported Atheism is a faith? Atheism isn't a faith. Come competently...''Atheists are the adult men and women folk who do no longer believe some thing without ideal info''. Who nerve-racking about them or their worry or their criteria? First, there is no longer any atheists right here in india. Atheists are more effective in christianity, and contained in the western international places. There are as many causes for being an atheist as there are atheists: the line to atheism has a tendency to be own and human being, conventional upon the targeted circumstances of a personality’s life, thoughts, and attitudes. though, it really is achieveable to describe some widespread similarities that are frequently customary between particularly very few atheists, fantastically atheists in the West. it really is a staggering question; unluckily, it isn’t really hassle-free to respond to. Many atheists locate their attitude to disbelief by way of way of technological information. Over the centuries technological information has come to modern motives of sides of our word that were once the unusual portion of religion. pondering medical motives were more effective effective than religious or theistic motives, the flexibility of religion to call for allegiance has weakened. for this reason, some persons have come to absolutely reject now no longer basically faith, yet also concept contained in the life of a god. For them, gods are ineffective as an reason for any function of the universe and grant no longer some thing worth investigating. have you ever ever heard of 'sensible atheists'? it really is a classification utilized by way of a few religious theists to describe a majority of those theists who technically experience in a god, in spite of the undeniable fact that who behave immorally. the perception is that moral habit follows right away from real theism, subsequently immoral conduct is a very last results of now no longer extremely believing. Theists who behave immorally have were given to extremely be atheists, regardless of what they offer theory to.

Yes, as we know it, atheism is the ultimate religion. There is a difference between what I would call a-theism (a true absence of any idea of God) and athe-ism (positive rejection of a particular idea of God).
There have only been at most 5-6 true atheists in the history of humankind. If someone asks you whether you believe in God and you answer "No", you are not an atheist. If you answer, "believe in WHAT?" or "I beg your pardon", maybe.
Most self-proclaimed "atheists" are simply rejecting a particular idea of God that was introduced to them at one time or another. In that sense, virtually all human beings who generate brainwaves are atheists.
Atheist apologists tend to be much more emotional than intelligent religious authors for this very reason - 99% of them are simply angry at their upbringing or at themselves for decisions they made in their youth, and are looking for an easy target. Their devotion to this cause qualifies these "atheists" as religious fanatics.

Traditionally, religion is defined as a belief in a god or gods. Since Atheism does not involve a belief in God, it would be outside the traditional definition to consider it a religion. A belief system, perhaps ... religion? NO.
But really ... why does it matter ??

You words show that you don't know anything.
Atheism is an absence of religion, in the same way that health is an absence of disease, not a different type of disease.
Or to put it another way:
- christianity is like eating sheep sh_t
- islam is like eating camel sh_t
- hinduism is like eating cow sh_t
- atheists don't eat sh_t
A person who is against religion is an _anti-theist_. Stalin was an anti-theist, and so are the fundy christians in the US who want to ban other religions and make theirs the state religion.
