I try to apply for a credit card online, the url is https://www.accountonline.com. Anyone knows this website? Can I check, and how? Thx a lot.

https:// is a good sign. HTTP:// is a normal website, HTTPS:// is a website with Security (encrypted) which is a good sign, but no I've never heard of them.

Do not ever apply credit cards through a source that you are not familiar with. If the URL or bank is something you never heard of, then it is most likely a hoax. Well-known banks usually come with solid and impressive web-sites that left no doubts to the customers it is genuine. Consult your local bank to verify the URL and they will most likely to assist you.

doesnt look safe to me. All the links work, but they are all for a different domain. Most websites are not spread out on several different damains like that.

To check whether a site is legit, download McAfee's SiteAdvisor and it will alert you whether a site is a phishing site or not. I've heard of the site though, and it's safe. See http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/accountonline.com/summary/

did u see the verisign logo on the left bottom of the screen?

that usually means that its a genuine website.
