Go to the folders where these files should be. At the top of the window, click "Tools" , then "Folder Options" and then click on the "View" tab. Select the button that says "Show Hidden Files" and then click apply. Unfortunately, this is the only way I know of showing them. You'll have to know what folders these files were in.

You can enable the option to show hidden files under windows explorer by going to tools - >Folder options, this would enable you to see all the files which are marked hidden.
As far as retrieving is concerned, you would have to remember the location where those files were.

open My Computer
Go in following sequence
Tools --> Folder options
Click on View tab
Under Advanced Settings
Navigate to Hidden files and folders section
Click on Show hidden files and Folders.
Then Apply and Ok .
This will unhide all hidden files on yur computer.
Now go to each drive and see for what yu r searching
Alternatively if yu remember the file type
yu can make a search by using search assiastant and specifying a search criteria ( type. size. modification date etc)
Press F3 on yur keyboard for searching
Hope this solves yur problem [:)]

You could....search through your whole entire computer for all files, making sure to include hidden files in the search, and sort them by date created/saved. If you can't remember the date, I have no idea

You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.
