I am want to track the Dows performance year over year.

Check out yahoofinance.com They have the closing price for the DJIA, or any other index for years & years into the past. You can also look up individual stocks as well

Here is one place where you can look at this data. Go to CBS Marketwatch. Go to the Markets section and choose DJIA and then charts. Then you want to choose the options on the chart to look at the DJIA data for the past decade (or whatever # of years you are interested in), and look at the data on a yearly basis (rather than the default daily basis).
