No it will not, as long as it has either a modem or a network interface card or usb ports in it.
Slow Speed Internet Access: A modem will allow you to crawl the internet at slower speeds and can be had for $10/month. If the laptop has an internal modem, this is easy to setup. If not, you can buy an external modem for $15 shipped on ebay. They generally plug into usb ports. The downside is that with slow speed internet access from your phone company or other such provider, it will use your phone line and if you only have one, you won't get incoming calls while connected to the internet, or you'll get the call and be disconnected from the internet.
Fast Speed Internet Access: Usually a minimum of 10 times faster than the slow speed internet access, and can be up do 30 times faster. These options would be DSL, cable, and satellite internet access. Usually about $30/month and I say well worth it. If you have multiple computers accessing the internet at the same time, you will still get fast access. If you don't have a network interface card installed on your computer, check with the company before purchasing because many high speed access modems (usually provided for free with a 12 month agreement) will allow you to plug the modem into your usb port. The usb cable may also be provided. This form of access will not tie up any phone lines, and your phone will function as normal, with the exception of satellite access, which requires you to also have a slow speed internet connection.
Your choice depends on your surfing habits. Slow speed access is fine if all you do is check email, instant message, and general light duty internet surfing. Downloading large files will take a long time, sometimes overnight or days.
