if someone says that you're "adorable" what exaclty does that mean, not to be vain or anything, but I 've heard babies and dogs being called that..but not an actual person

I like that one. You can find it by typing "define: adorable" (no quotes) into google.
Wikipedia says "adorable" means "something that is cute" and goes on to say:
"Cuteness is a delicate and attractive kind of beauty commonly associated with youth, innocence, and helplessness... A simple way to define cuteness is this: an object is cute if it instills in humans a desire to care for it."
Personally though.... if somebody calls an adult adorable? I think it can be a way to say, when you're talking specifically about a person's flaws, that you love those too.
You could also use it to make excuses for somebody's flaws or to pretend you like it when you don't.

You can call an actual person adorable but it also depends on the local lingo. Adorable means lovable but its use in the "cute" sense.
