BitTorrent is a torrent sharing application just search in google or something for your movie + torrent (ex: babel torrent)

BitTorrent works by breaking a file into several pieces, and downloading all of those pieces at the same time, from different sources, hence making the download faster.
As for free movies/tv shows, those are typically illegal to download. There are a few tv shows out there that are legal to download, and you can usually get those straight from the tv station's website. Otherwise, I wouldn't recomend trying it.

bittorrent is a peer to peer sharing amalgam. you download the program then basically tell it what you want to download. it sniffs around and it will start linking your computer with other computers that have the file that you're interested in.
there's much legal dispute (in the u.s.) concerning downloading copyrighted movies and t.v. shows. not going to point you in any direction that would break the laws.

File bits are gathered for "seeders" and sent to "leechers." You can search for movies and such using torrent search engines, such as torrentspy.com, that leads you to the site hosting the files.

think of Bittorrent as sharing files on each individual's computer and a bit of the file is shared and transferred to each other.
