hi sweets. My daughter is one, and I stopped breastfeeding her at 7 months, and still haven't gotten a period. Actually it can take anywhere from four weeks to 8 months for ur period to return, esp if u breastfed fulltime.

And it's more than possible for u to be pregnant, even though most doctors say that its easier for mothers who didn't breastfeed to become pregnant vs mothers who did. The hormone that triggers breastfeeding letdown and such in a way makes it a wee bit harder for women who are breastfeeding to concieve, for fulltime breastfeeding mothers. The less u breastfeed, the less the hormone has a reaction-kinda why doctors told u in the hospital that breastfeeding helps the uterus shrink.

I'm married too, and the husband and I don't use protection either, and I just discovered last week that I'm expecting again. The cramps I was having was what I thought was my period returning...I was wrong...

Good luck sweetie.

Sounds like you need a visit to the doctor's office. Go buy a pregancy test or visit your local family planning clinic there is a strong possibility that you could be pregnant. This site below states when your child is over 6 months, begins eating other foods, and/or sleeps through the night (suckling less often) the chance of pregnancy becomes greater.

even though you dont get a period-you can still ovulate while breastfeeding.
breastfeeding or not-the first 6 weeks after having your baby is when you are most likely to get pregnant again- since your cycles were gone for 9 months.

after you stop breast feeding it could take as long as 6-10 weeks for your period to come back as a regular cycle. or it could be as little as 3 weeks--it really just depends on your body, everybody is different.

I would grab a cheap hpt and test or go to your doctors for a blood test.
good luck!!
