regular sudafed and tylenol. that's about it....i'm pregnant now (and have a 7 month old, so have been pregnant for the past 2 years almost continuously) and that's the only things the doctors will let me take over the counter. otherwise call your ob tomorrow and see what they'll let you take or prescribe for you. congrats on the pregnancy

Hun, ask a doctor. As stated from the others, u should be provided on what is safe to take, and what is not. Everyone's different tho. I took some medication that was supposed to be safe for all pregnant women, but took it, and suffered. I had the worse reaction possible-experience hallucinations, a fever, i was completely incoherent until the medicine wore out. If ur body is a little more sensitive to certain medications, ask specifically for a list of medications designed for ur system. Good luck and God Bless.

Ask your Pharmacist/ Doctor about a "Category A or B" cold medicine- these are genrally safe for pregnant women or women in child bearing age. "Category C" meds are usually tratogenic- i.e- may cause birth defect- so stay away from them.

my daughter just had her baby. Her doctor told her to take Robitussin.

I'm a firm believer in if you can avoid taking meds while pregnant, then avoid them. However getting really sick isn't good either. It would depend on your immune system and how well it counters a cold on a normal basis.

One thing you can use is grapefruit seed extract. A few drops in a glass of orange juice will get rid of your cold and keep it away. I have been using it for 4 years and havent had one since (I used to seem to have one year round).
You can get a bottle at a local health store.

Check with your doctor/clinic - I was given a list of approved medications when I was pregnant.

tylenol products are the safest stuff out there. if you can, just try herbal stuff. or those shower bars that emit eucaliptius and cough drops.
