There are a lot of continuity problems with events and reactions in the original trilogy because Lucas wrote the prequels at a later time.

That's why I ignore the prequels continuity wise. I much prefer what was established in the original trilogy and how they built on it in the expanded universe novels that take place afterward (I won't buy the ones that take place before and use the prequel backstories).

If you watch episod 3 you'll notice that Chewy only interacts with Yoda. At the end of the movie Yoda lands on Dagobah and he will never leave. Obi Wan nevers goes to the wookee home planet.

Chewie never met any of the other Star Wars characters other than Yoda in the last movie when Yoda went to Kashyyyk. The only time Chewie was ever on screen was when the wookiees had their battle scene with the droids by the coastline.

I was ten when I saw Star Wars... the original 1977 release, in the theatre.

Since then Lucas has maimed the franchise by rewriting huge chunks of the original story. You're quite right that Chewie does not exhibit any familiarity with Old Ben Kenobi (Obi Wan) nor does the old Jedi...

Lucas tossed a lot of garbage into the mix in creating the newly dubbed one, two and three - including tossing in old characters in a stupid (in my opinion) attempt to get buy in from us old folks...

R2D2 should not have been there, C3PO should not have been there... and plots for all three movies should have been there.

I was terribly disappointed... but even twenty years later the opening John Williams score, and watching the script roll... and the opening with the Blockade Runner fleeing the Star Destroyer...

I get chills...

Obi Wan didn't meet Chewbacca. Yoda did. And in the first trilogy, the only one to see Yoda was Luke so there wouldn't have been any acknowledgements.

I dont think obie won ever met chewie, really only Yoda met him in episode 3. BUT, did you notice in.....oh man, cant even remember the title, whichever one obi won dies in, when the storm troopers are entering the place where C-3PO and R2-D2 are hiding, a storm trooper in the back hits his head on the the door, it's hilarious, you can even hear it, but you dont notice unless you're looking for it. Gah, why cant I remember the title......

why do people keep puting chewbacca and obione together with the old and new movies?

for one thing there is not a single scene in any of the movies (of the old series) where Obi-Won and Chewbacca are together.

Yoda and Chewbacca were togerther and friends.

get that straight.

there is no indication of them meeting till ep 4

How many times have you met someone or worked with them and many years later you can't remember their names? :) Since your 16 this hasn't happened yet. However, the point I'm making you'll understand in about 10-15 years. Perhaps that is the case in the story line.

i never noticed that. if Episode 1 really was the first one, why was 'Episode 4' made first?
in my opinion, Star Wars IS the first one. then The Empire Strikes Back, then Return of the Jedi.
when i was little, i watched all 3 movies over and over again, since they were the only ones. (i'm 25)

I thought he only met Yoda in the prequels. In the original trilogy he never sees Yoda again.
