It's probably because the good ones keep to themselves and the annoying ones are the ones we hear about, which can give a lop-sided view of the religion.

Mostly Jehovah's Witnesses are discriminated against because it is an unfamiliar and unknown religion. I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness when I was little and I fell victim to the ridicule. People don't understand that they knock on your door for a reason, in the Bible they are told to go and "preach the word of the Lord" and that is what they are doing. This religion is also very much based off of history and it is following what their founders created, including not celebrating Pegan Holidays. They very much believe in God and very much are just another branch of Christianity. Whether Jehovah's Witness or not we must respect everyone, and unfortunately that doesn't always happen.

It really doesn't matter which religion, they all are alike. People make fun of all religions anyway. Their faith don't permit them to do holidays because it was God who did not make holidays. If you look up where a birthday comes from you will see that one of the apostles lost his head for a birthday present for someones daughter who wanted it. Well what a bad memory that is. So it becomes a heathen holiday and so they do not celebrate it. Same with Christmas look up where it comes from and you will see that Jeses was not born on Christmas day but was born around October. Why live the lie?

It is easy to poke fun at others. Look at Jesus. People called him a seditionist. In today's America I think he would probably be labled a Terrorist. We try to do what the Bible says. This, to some comes off as antisocial. Case in point, when I went to school and the kids would talk at lunch the conversations were often about: Who lied to whom about what, Sex, What R rated orgy flick they were gonna see, Drugs etcetra. Sure not everyone talked about that but that is a general idea. Now since we do not do drugs, or underage drinking, or lying, or premarital sex the amount of conversations to be apart of were usually about sports. In my case I do not like sports. This might have made them feel I was snooty. In reality I had nothing to relate to them that they were interested in.
Plus once something is around for a while it can become Iconic. We knock on doors. We are known for this. Even people who do not bother to know why know we knock on doors. It makes an easy joke.
Personally I take a bit of satisfaction when I see a, polite, joke at our expense as it is a reminder that Our preaching work is well known. Granted I do not like Hate jokes of any kind(ie How many dead jews in a barrel) But I get a kick out of seeing shows, sometimes from other countries mention us.

They are Christians and they should be treated with the respect that that deserves. However, they DO go door to door attempting to push their version of Christianity onto others. Not celebrating Christmas and Halloween are only two of the problems with their religion. Another would be that they do not celebrate their birthdays.
This one belief, whether they see it or not, is a form of child abuse. I lived with a woman and her 2 children who were not allowed to celebrate their birthdays when they rolled around. It was devastating to the boy and it made him feel like an outcast. Afterwards, the mother didn't understand WHY the boy acted out as badly as he did. I saw it.... And I know God did too. Michael Jackson was/is a Jehovah Witness..... another male child that was abused early in life and lacked self esteem.
The bible tells us to love others, as we'd love ourselves. So, we are suppose to care about ourselves and even love ourselves. That is called self-esteem. Not self-worship. And I gotta tell you, I don't want someone knocking on my front door and attempting to persuade me or my family to their way of thinking if they have a warped way of looking at things.
These are my thoughts on the topic and I don't think they'll be changing any time soon. .

The basis concepts of the Jehovahs witness's following constitutes a cult Members are forced to be part of a strong group mentality and free thought of the individual is discouraged Its like christianity's answer to Scientology a corrupt cult controlled by corrupt people more intersted in what they can get for them selves by following God then convey a truthful message
They are all so taught to look down upon all those who are not Jehovah's witness's and the underlying precepts of their teachings have nothing in common with the teachings of christ but then again neither does any church especially the catholic so what would it matter

It's far from "un-Christian" to not celebrate Christmas and other holidays because most holidays were originally pagan holidays. When Constantine became emperor of Rome he declared Christianity the official religion. So in order to prevent a revolt he allowed people to celebrate the old celebrations in a Christian aspect.

I have never made fun of anyone for their believes. I am not a Jehovah Witness, but I had an Acupuncturist who was, this was long before it was known that blood transfusions could transmit HIV, he explained to me, that Jehovah Witnesses don't ever get a blood transfusion. Turned out to be the right choice.

They claim they have the right religion and every other religion is wrong and they go door to door annoying people promoting it. The way I see it is no religion is right just the faith preaching of the bible and the belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and savior. Jesus asks us to share our faith but not push your religion off on anyone.

I think J.W's are valid in not celebrating December 25th. Jesus was not born in that month so why celebrate it? I wouldn't want a birthday celebration on the wrong day I was born.
