Avoid anything where the second number is 3, like GeForce 7300 or Radeon X1300. This means it is the low end budget version of the series, not meant for gaming. I would say either a GeForce 6800, or anything in the GeForce 7000 series or Radeon X1000 series, making sure to follow the above rule about the 3.

Stick with nvidia. They are the best for gaming. Anything 6 series or better will work for CSS. I run a pair of 6600's and I can go very high resolution and very high detail and refresh rate. Since they are putting out 8 or 9 series now you can get them pretty cheap on eBay

Something like an Nvidia 7300 or Nvidia 7600 works great. Nvidia 6800 should be usable.

ATI works best you get really clear details. It also depends on the type of moniter do u have. If you have a HD moniter ATI works best.

Anything nVidia 6000 series or higher, or anything ATI and their 1000 series (1300 or 1600) will work great.
