Yours....if you get married eventually, change it to his. 17 is so young, and ALOT of things change. I had my son at 17 as well, and 12 years later his father is not even in the picture. I am happily married, and my son now wants to change his last name to match the rest of the fam.

Yours! I just went though the Exact same situation, I gave my son my last name and he is 3 months old now. Guess what.... His father is no where to be found.... A baby will change things more than you can ever imagine. Just wait and see and hopefully it will be a Very happy outcome and you will get married. Until then, it is your name. It makes everything easier. Doctors, daycare, etc... I wish you the best. Congrats!

My husband believes that the baby should have his last name because for one it is his first child and if you and him are happy and engaged then your last name will be changed also. If you feel that you have to question the last name then you should question the relationship.
Now my opinion you should talk it out with him and tell him about your fears because if it something that you are worried about and make sure he understands that you are happy but you just aren't sure

It's really your personal decision, but I agree with the others - give the baby your last name and if you and your fiance do get married, then the child can take his. Unless you decide to keep your last name when you get married, in which case you can decide then if you want the child to keep your name or take his. But for now it will be easier if the baby has yours.

You give the baby the Fathers last name. Unless, their are no male heirs to carry on your family name, then is when you should use your last name.
I pray you have a very healthy and happy baby. God Bless each of you.
This is a very exciting, trying and rewarding time for you. The years ahead will bring even more blessings for you and your new family.

I'd probably give the baby your last name until you are married and the deal is all sealed. Then you could easily change bubby's last name. Congratulations and all the best.

Have you tried hyphenating?? Jones-Smith or something... Or you can get an alternative last name, made from the letters in both of your names...kind of like in father of the bride part 2!

Always his :) who are you to break tradition? j/k I believe any decision involving the child should be a joint decision by both parents. Talk to your partner not the world. No one knows better then you two. You'll learn that as you grow in life. Good luck!!
