Use a sulfide, sulfate, phosphate.

I suggest using sodium sulfide since it will only ppt the Ba 2+ ions and will not affect the Na 1+ ions.

(Actually the Na2S smells more like sewer gas than rotten eggs. My students use it quite often due to the lower cost of this chemical.)

Use the sulfate ion such as potassium sulfate etc. The sulfide is stinky. P.U. Rotten eggs

potassium sulphate solution could be used. Sodium is readily soluble with sulphates while barium has a low solubility product.
