Perhaps we would have found them before they were shipped to Syria, if the UN would have acted faster, and not been held up by the French, Germans, and Russians.

It would have done little except to silence some of the criticism of the war. The Sunnis and the Shiites would still dislike each other, and the Kurds despise both of them. (By the way, the WMD got shipped off to Syria in June 2002, where presumably they still are. They pose no particular threat there as the Syrians do not have the technology to develop or use them.)

No, why would it?
Bush knew there weren't any before he sent the troops in -- so he never expected to find them anyway. If he had found some, there would have been a huge press conference and he'd have probably done a happy dance for being so lucky...but otherwise it wouldn't be any different.

I don't think there would be any difference. Bush wanted to go to war in Iraq and he was going to use any excuse he could think of to do it!

The Democrats would have said he planted them there.

By the way, they found 500 artillery shells filled with nerve gas, but I guess that doesn't count.

No. We gave those to him so he could use them on his enemies, domestic and abroad. We should have had our heads examined.
