Stanger Than Fiction was great, but I liked Dead Man's Chest more.

It's a shame I didn't get to see some of those, and I really wanted to!
I'm a big fan of the Pirates movies, but I don't think Dead Man's Chest was as good as the first one.
The Prestige is one of the ones I wanted to see but didn't get a chance to. Same with Superman Returns.
Talladega Nights definitely DOES NOT deserve best movie of 06, lol!
Flyboys was underrated! It was actually quite good, but I dunno about best of 06.
Karen A mentioned the Prize Winner movie. I also thought that was pretty good!

Thus far the best movie I've seen--thinking all the way back to the beginning of the year--is...THE QUEEN.
Nothing else delivered on that level, but the three below came close. (Haven't seen a lot of the December releases yet though.)
Runners-Up: Little Miss Sunshine, A Prairie Home Companion, Strangers With Candy

No doubt it was Borat. One of the most unusual movies to ever come out. It was hilarious and poignant, showing the most loving and caring side of America and people of faith, and at the same time exposing the hypocrisy and ugliness of the rest of America. Rednecks calling for Iraqi blood, Young street thugs accepting a foreigner on the street. White college preps complaining about the abolition of slavery and how hard it is to be white. The welcoming into the church. Borat showed us the good and atrocious sides of America and kept us laughing the whole way.

I'm a big fan of pirates, but Dead Man's Chest just seemed like it was too aimed at little boys (not enough storyline, too much gooey-ness, etc).
I vote V for Vendetta or X-Men 3

From your list I would choose The Prestige.
Great actors, and a gripping story.
From my own list I would pick The Departed as the movie of '06
An amazing cast. Great yarn

2006 was pretty weak....Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. It had Julianne Moore in it. It looks like a chic flick and kind of is, but everyone (Male and Female) I have recommended it to LOVED it!
