I'm a huge "Wire" fan, and I'm going to visit Alexandria, VA. While we are there, we are planning to go to Baltimore to see the places where they film the show, and I've heard a lot of negative things about Baltimore. Is this a good or bad idea? (Please only answer if you've actually been to Baltimore's inner-city or live there.)

Sure, Baltimore is a good place to visit. I live in Baltimore and know the places to go. If you like to drink then go to Fells Point and Canton. If you like the military sites go to Annapolis and Federal Hill. If you want to see Baltimore's downtown then eat at Ruth Chris, go to the National Aquarium and take a ferry across the Chesapeake Bay...all of them are very close together. It's a fun city and you'll have fun I am sure.

Are you crazy? You're the first person I've heard of who wants to visit the places where the wire was shot. Not even the people I know who live there want to be there. Stick to the Inner Harbor. I got lost once around west Baltimore.... it wasn't pleasant....
