Maybe there is a support group in your area and they might have evenings out for dinner, dancing and coffee. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better. Some therapy might help you as well.

the arts, any and all of them...great disciplines and a way to open a door to the spiritual self of our selves.
volunteer work, if one can get past the ego thing of "look at what a good thing i am doing" (remember that anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, a secret good deed is vitaly important, and it is important to let it remain secret like some of the stuff on our 4th step)
recovery offers us time and conciousness to discover what we really like and who we really are...if we like motorcycles, auto racing, the arts, education, martial arts, etc... we can explore different things to see if we really like some things...like i didn't know i was an artist until i got sober...i have a friend that rides a motorcycle now, (before he couldn't...too drunk to stay upright)...
and always helping other alcoholics...that takes up any time i have to be bored. and in the mean time, be a royal pain in your sponsor's butt, call him at every turn and talk and listen to him, listen to him till you can just puke a plastic pistol and then listen to that long winded windbag some more, cause what he is telling you will save your life, and you won't hear it the first or second time he says it...

Thats the beautiful thing about recovery is that you have an entire world out there waiting to be discovered. Its like a ship long out to see coming out of the fog and discovering a new world. And your ship is AA. Keep coming back.

Having a family...get a girl, treat her right, marry her and your life will begin.
You were drinking from loneliness...unfulfilled dreams.....having responsibilities, wife/child waiting for you when you get home...takes away all of the pain of using drugs.
You'll see.
