What is the purpose and reason for why you exist?

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.


To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

the purpose for why humans in general exist or why I personally exist?
I think I exist to Dance. Dancing inspires me. I hope someday I can be a professional Ballerina and inspire young girls the way professional ballerinas have inspired me. If i ever become a professional, i am going to start a campaign against Eating disorders, among other things i have witnessed destroy countless lives.
that is why i think i exist.

To have joy upon the Earth. Joy not being confused with pleasure of course.

This life is basically a test. If we can come to Earth, learn, have joy, and obey the commandments of the Lord, then and only then will we be able to receive the gift of eternal happiness.

In the grand scheme of things, this life is so short. So why do we go about worrying SO much about the petty things of life? Why do we let ourselves get depressed? We learn to cast aside our carnal desires of the flesh and find out what truly makes us happy rather than seek after fleeting moments of pleasure that leave us just as soon as they arrived.

Peopleses are cute and lovable. Too bad so many of them die each day. Makes me a very sad alien person.

I'm here to take care of my kids, why do i exist, because when 2 people love each other very much they have sex and make babies.

I believe that all of us (whatever race or gender or religion or shoe size) are here to love each other and take care of each other because we're all that we have and without each other life would pretty dull.
