Nirvana was a great and influential band, but the Ramones' influence on the course of popular music has been greater to date. It is fair to say that Nirvana and the grunge scene would not have existed without the punk-new wave genre founded by the Ramones.

Nirvana was greaty a better influence. Kurt Cobain was and is more widely known as one hell of a musician tan anyone from the Ramones. Now im not saying the ramones arent a good band because they do have a few classics but back then Nirvana was pretty much the meaning of grundge rock

The Ramones. They came long before Nirvana, lasted longer than Nirvana and influenced trhe whole punk scene in 1976 both in the USA and UK.

There never would have been a Nirvana if there hadn't been the Ramones....The Ramones changed how music was done not so much with their talent but their style!!

Nirvana, definitely. more people today could recognise one of Nirvana's songs. Also, Dave Grohl was in Nirvana.
