Have you ever had the feeling that you were alone in the Universe? I used to have it a lot, as a child. Why?

I did. Why? Probably part of growing up is doubt about the world around you.

You are the first one who ever said this that I know of. Most other people speak of being alone and yet not feeling alone, and of being happily comfortable in solitude and actually thriving..
There may have been moments in your early life, even infancy, where you needed people and found out they were not there for you.
Some books define this as common among adoptees, or orphans.
If you used to have this feeling and it is gone now, perhaps the mystery of the loss of that spiritual bond has been resolved.

Or you have reached a stage in your development where you have reconciled any losses with the knowledge that the only person who is with us our entire life is ourselves.

And thus you decided to live- while you are alive.

When you are young your world is alot smaller. When people turn against you, you can feel very alone.

...I guess it's because I used to feel that no one liked me, no one wanted to be my friend, and that was because I went to afterschool and knew a bit more than they did, so that technically made me an outcast. :(
