Baggy pants, ripped jeans, short t-shirts, hair down to your ***, nose rings, skater shoes, liberal, rock stars eating live rats, drugs, booze, 'like', rap music, ignorance... There probably are a lot more but I can't think of them right now.
What happened to good ole' fashion values. You know? Like listening to Jazz music, dressing conservatively, being conservative, watching the likes of Humphrey Bogart or Fred Astaire, you know? Some days I get so frustrated how society has turned out, especially stupid youth. (I'm part of the 18-24 as well)

It seems this question was asked by my father and his father and his father's fater and so on. Youth are just like camelions. Where did all the hippies go? They are in Congress.

Not everyone dresses like that. You think all of them dress that way cos they are the only type of youths that could capture your attention while passing u by on the street.
You cant blame most of them as they could be growing up in broken up families. As u can see more family relationships are declining and thus so are the state of our youth today. We struggle to fit in with the crowd by trying to stand out (sounds ironic huh) and just follow what others do.
Media, rock bands, heavy metal music, are all influences bearing down upon teens nowadays. MTV is part of peoples' everyday lives and we are carried away with the pop frenzy. Teens refuse to dress conservatively cos at this age they are crying out for attention and wanting to be heard.
Stupid youth are raised by stupid parents. (not necessarily all though)

I definitely agree with you. I believe forces to breakdown our values and our social structure gained control over the media a long time ago. They have slowly submitted to the public "what is cool" for each generation to follow untill today when the sheep being led to the slaughter, or the following public, have accepted the idea that it is only right to allow others in society to follow any sick way of life they want, but those old ways and values are not tolerated.
It is so ironic how so many youth think they are being independent, how so many believe their way is theirs! it is THEIR generation, THEIR music, THEIR ideas, THEIR ways, when they are really just playing into the hands of society's engineers. They are doing what those who select what type of music gets air play WANT them to do!!!They are the people in power's puppets and they don't even know it.

I listen to jazz classic rock and country, am in college, have probably a better job than you, dress well, and long hair does not define a person! I imagine that you were young once too. Maybe. its just how some people are.no one critisizes you for wearing what you want and listening to what you want, so just GET OVER IT! by the way im 18

First of all, you need to realize that times change. Things are different for us than they were for you. There are so many parents/teachers going on and on about how our lives are so much easier, but are they really? Think about it.
Maybe you are just too ignorant to see this. I respect your opinion. I can see why you overgeneralize and group all youth under your different catagories and ways of dress/actions. However, you have to know, that there are many wonderful kids my age who are trying to make a difference in this world and who WANT to make a difference. My peers are struggling, attempting to find hope and life in a world of despair and ruin. Just as in every generation, there are the "bad kids" and the "good kids". You are focusing on the many teenagers you see in restaurants and on the streets who do drugs, drink, listen to punk music, dress inappropriately, and could care less about the people around them. What about those of us who like classical music, country music, and 80s rock music; who aspire to be great musicians, artists, writers, actors/actresses, or scientists; who have an idea that could change the world if only one person from YOUR generation would listen; who dress COMFORTABLY, not in whatever is in style? What about us? We are always the ones that no one thinks about.
If you are so frustrated at how society has "turned out", maybe you should try to do something about it. You are at that age when you CAN make a difference. It's hard for us because we can't vote and no one listens. Maybe if you used your political power (which you do have, whether you would like to think it or not), you could FIX the problems surrounding youth today. Maybe you could make a difference, if you'd only try instead of sitting here in an internet forum complaining. You have amazing potential, being the age you are, if you'd only use it.
One more thing. As for the "good ole' fashion values", we didn't raise ourselves. Blame the parents of troubled teens. They didn't grow up in "perfect" families with "perfect" parents who taught them how to be good. We didn't ask to be brought up the way we have been. It's true, we could make life-changing decisions to be different, but if we were raised to think what we are doing is okay, how can we know when we need to change? Maybe you should direct your frustrations at the millions of parents in this country who do not know how to raise children to be influential, successful adults; who do not know the difference between discipline and abuse; who do drugs; who smoke; who drink; who would rather have a "wild child" than have their poor baby hate them. Don't blame us for our upbringing if you don't like it. Blame the ones who brought us up.

I think it is because a lot of older people are constantly judging youth more and more......and youth actually think older people are ignorant about things like when teenagers are depressed many parents think that as a weakness.....so it isn't just what is wrong with young people.....it is also what is wrong with adults not sharing any love to their kids and working their 60 hour a week jobs and living their dream instead of loving their kids.

Everyone is going tooo fast. Chill, take notice of what's happening around your world! Everything in life is determined by your attitude. MAKE time for the things in life that have nothing to do with the pursuit of the almighty dollar.....see how good you are at doing it.....do something for somebody you care about without them having a clue that YOU may have had anything to do with it. Try it......IT'S FUN.

Sadly society has affected many people in many ways both positively and negatively. What you may think is bad for the youth may be good to others, it all depends on personal preference. For example I look nose rings (small ones for culture) is fine, but drugs and that stuff is not good...so you get the point

i think its not our own decision but what the world has brought onto us. why dress conservatively if your just going to be outcasted. and its not all about fitting in, its just about what we've been around. hair down to your *** is disgusting. but whats wrong with baggy pants its just a new style. idk maybe i'll see something the way your seeing it...but for now i think i'll be proud of my generation for becoming more outspoken and more outgoing. for being individuals not what the world wants them to be. my grandfather gets mad at us for saying what we believe in..and we're like wth..its our right to have freedom of speech.let us talk..you underestimate the power underneath the baggy pants and skater shoes
