No, but the infighting among politicians probably is depressing the country.

It started out great because the government had us all pumped up that it would be a blowout and we were fired up over 9/11.
But in the end, we should have taken a lesson from the Russians in Afghanistan. They went over and had a very quick splash at the beginning, but before it was over with, they were in there for over 7 years just doing ground combat. And when it finally became an economic disaster, they pulled out, without ever gaining any more ground than they had at the beginning of the "ground and pound".
Yes, it has demoralized this country just as Vietnam did. Too many casualties for something that we no longer see as a viable goal. And the change in the war itself has put us in the middle of something that most people can't see an easy way out of -- the position we would be in could make us very vulnerable for all out devastation or the position we would leave the civilians in over there would leave them entirely vulnerable for a full scale civil war. Either way we lose! As fellow humans of their civilians and our soldiers and their families, I can't see how anyone would see it differently.
War is never a good thing, but sometimes it's necessary. After the effects are realized, then it usually takes awhile before another one breaks out on this scale. Now you know why.
As an adult who grew up during the Vietnam years, I was very saddened when the Gulf War erupted, because of the potential to turn into another war like that one. But it was over quickly and with relatively little casualties to our soldiers or their civilians. When the Iraqi situation started right after the Afghanistan conflict, I knew we were in trouble. It just took awhile before everyone could see through the smokescreen that the government had thrown up to justify their actions and at the same time blind us to the reality that would soon become evident, despite their best efforts to keep it concealed for as long as possible.
There are no winners in a war, I don't care what anyone says. The fact is there are just those that didn't lose as much!

No. For a common American he doesn't care about Iraq or any thing else. He is worried about his food and home.

regrettably, i'm thinking they (our latest & former leaders) are all tousled! i comprehend no trouble-free answer yet we only won't be able to play with the aid of the "regulations" anymore whilst no one else does & it incredibly is what gets our butts kicked. we start to do something & do not end it. i think of the United countries stinks! they are all corrupt & it incredibly is time for the complication-unfastened man or woman to have the flexibility to be interior the management seat. somebody without connection to grease, or somebody not seeking to kick butt to make dad experience greater beneficial. We do & will consistently might desire to stay steps previous to the nut case terrorists & guard our land & human beings. The commerce towers became an act of warfare so we did have the placement to shelter ourself. It became now not "anticipation of self-protection"!

I suppose so, but people don't see the big picture. Things will get much worse before they get better, and it will not be our doing. When this happens, people will be too busy to be depressed.
