Finally! Thank-you!! I asked this question a few times... When i got pregnant, I couldn't stand my dog. I could barely tolerate the cats, but the dog...oiiii... he followed me everywhere, stared at me, and was always annoying me. After a month of getting in trouble for everything, all I had to do was give him 'the look' and he would stay and stop following me (his little click click click on the hardwood... so annoying). I now 'give him the look' and he will break eye contact. I felt bad and almost cried, I became really hard on him, and I felt so bad. He tried so hard.. he became better behaved then ever... he tried to hard. I am now in my second trimester and finally he can lay next me on the couch or bed, as long as he isn't touching me or pinning my blankets down.. I can handle that now. It is slowly getting better... I am so glad that I am not the only one!!!

You are having hormone changes and just don't have the patience, or you are feeling more affectionate because your "parenting" hormones are working in overdrive -- without you being more specific it's hard to know where you are coming from...... Plus, animals have an extra sense and maybe your pet appears to be seeking more attention because you aren't giving it the attention you did before, understandably. Millions of families have pets before, during and after pregnancy so go with the flow and don't make any rash decisions you may regret later. A pet isn't disposable and having a pet helps develop a well rounded childhood experience. Good Luck and have patience - "this too shall pass"!

My being pregnant seems to have had the different influence! I even have 2 canines I rescued 7 and 5 years in the past, or maybe however of direction i've got been loving in the direction of all of them alongside, now i think very linked to them. i'm a single mum, and if the domestic dogs do not sleep in my mattress i think very stressful. I actually have a cat I observed appropriate until now I grew to become pregnant, and he or she became very abused (had a broken hip and jaw) and hated human beings, yet now act like my infant! She even tries to sleep interior the crib, that's beautiful because of the fact the newborn isn't here yet yet freaks me out a sprint for the reason that she would be ready to be here next month! those darn hormones!

Sounds like you were using the dog as a kid till you got pregnant and now you don't want to have the dog or pet anymore because you have the baby on the way.

I have a cat that almost seems to sense that I am pregnant. She sleeps on or near my stomach most nights. It's almost like she is being protective of me and the baby. Perhaps I am just being silly. But I've definitely become more loving towards the kitty and almost treat her like a baby until my husband starts laughing at me. I just wonder how she will react after the baby is born?

Well, my sister had a beautiful Bull Mastiff. Nola, was their baby. Until Liam came. They had taken Nola every where with them I mean she really was like their child. But soon after the baby came, she was too jealous and became quite a handful. Unfortunatley that gave her away to a family friend. I have seen this happen to a few of my friends.

Hormone levels change when we are pregnant and can cause our feelings to be different not only towards pets but towards many things...it is normal. Congrats & Good Luck!
