Ok, so I've had this name picked out since I was a little girl. I lost my daddy to a heart attack when I was in elementary school. His first and middle name was Terry Lee. I was a major daddy's girl so this was a hard blow for me in life. My husband and I are family planning right now so we're talking about names for fun.

Since dad's name was Terry Lee, I came up with Terra Angelee (Ann-ja-lee). If you notice, Angelee has Angel in it (since dad is an angel now) for a full name of Terra Angelee. What do you think? Any other spelling suggestions or ideas?

Please be nice though. I'm pretty sensitive to this subject since it concerns a big part of my heart.

I'm spelling it Terra instead of Tara because I had a friend in high school that spelled it that way. I liked the spelling. That isn't done intentionally because of the spelling of Terry. It just worked out that way.

Beautiful story and beautiful name!

You may want to consider Terra Angélie as an alternative spelling for the middle name.

This name literally translates in to Earth Angel.

The origin of Terra is Italian and means Earth. Angélie is French for Messenger of God, which of course is an what an Angel is!

Great name!

I'm really sorry about your Dad and it sounds like you have managed to keep a "relationship" with him even though he's passed away - good for you. And I think it's very sweet that you want to honor your relationship with him. As hard as it is - you have to consider your child first when naming them. For example, it you decide on Terra Angelee and your last name starts with a "P", her initials are "TAP" - kids can be mean, so keep initials in mind. Also, did you Dad like his name? My GGma and my Gpa HATED their names and insisted none of us ever name any of our children after them. Personally? I think you should pick one of your Daddy's names (Terry or Lee ((I think Terra is a really pretty twist, by the way)) and incorporate it into your child's name. That gives them a little piece of their grandpa (and helps you feel a connection) but also gives them their own identity and they never feel like they aren't "living up to" Grandpa's name. Good for you for thinking it through before naming your baby! I wish you, your husband and your future baby lots of happiness!

I do not like it at all...but you asked what we thought. I think you're going a little overboard with it. I have no problem with someone naming their children after someone else, especially a parent who has passed away. However, I would keep it a little more simple and just use Terra (but I would use Tara...it's doesn't have to be spelt the same way to be a rememberance) or Angel or something like that. I really don't like any of those names, but it's not my child...if you and your husband approve, have at it.

ok the truth I love annjalee but why don't you spell it like how it is pronounced. As for terra well that is a bit much but you know girls are named terrie my best friend is and it is a pretty nice name. maybe you can make terrie her middle name and if you have a boy maybe you can make his name leeigh angel. just giveing ideals.

It's a beautiful name.

As a side note, Terra means Of the Earth, while Angel is obviously of Heaven.

Sounds like you have found the perfect name to bless your little one and honor your Dad.

Jesus- I think you already have it all figured out... you have me convinced(that the name is perfect)! My daughter's name ended up being Aaliyah Mercedes- which is something that I would have never picked, but her God-mother's middle name is Mercedes(her first name is Maria); so it was either Aaliyah Mercedes or Aaliyah Maria----ha ha. Anyways, my point is this: What could possibly be more meaningful than having the chance to explain to your child when she is old enough to understand the meaning behind her name? So, go with your gut, it's rarely wrong... ;^)

Hi Jodie... I'm Ryan's girlfriend Andrea. I think that is a beautiful name. It is creative, it sounds pretty, and it will be a positive reminder of your father. If you have a boy are you going to name him the same name as your father? You should. Good luck! :-)

I'm not being nice, but I think it's a really nice name and it should mean a lot to you to have a beautiful little girl to carry your dad's name.

it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. the name has a very beautiful meaning. it is tradition in some cultures to name babies after loved ones, and in other cultures they believe you should never name a child after someone is deceased.
i think it is an honor to name a child after someone so dearly loved!
