The Internet is difficult to understand because it has to handle the data of several billion electronic devices all around the world at any given moment.

There are actually a few decent books out there to help you learn about the Internet. My favorite would be "The Internet for Dummies", from the "Dummies" series. Yes, its a slightly insulting title, but they are very good books that can teach you alot.

Although, as a basic Internet user, you don't need to know anything complicated. You really just need to know how to use a web browser and an email system, and thats all.

The internet is as easy or as complicated as you need it to be. If you want some in depth learning thats easy to absorb i suggest books like the 'Idiots Guide to the internet' or 'The internet for dummys'. Books of these series are user friendly always.
