I'm more familiar with the last two- Friedman and Malmsteen. Their technique and styles are sooo very different...I think in terms of all around originality and impact on guitar playing, Malmsteen would take the lead. But I only mean his technique is original. As far as songwriting goes, it's very very simple- natural harmonic scales almost exclusively. Friedman on the other hand explores all kinds of amazing styles...he seems to be rather obsessed with pentatonic scales...but I have listened to many of his solo albums, and the range of styles he employs is outstanding.

None of 'em.

Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughann, Steve Vai, and Eddie Van Halen.

Malmsteen wasn't good enough at classical so he played pseudo classical with distortion wow-that's talent. (I'm really jealous of him but I like to trash him because its easy).

George Lynch from Dokken-is he still alive? He was amazing-but not the best ever.

I don't know the other two-but they sound like they suck. (sorry been a long day).

I do think Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray and Steve Vai, oh yeah and Joe Satriani were all better than those you've mentioned that I know.

Dwight
