I am 16 weeks and i can't hug my kid tight anymore. She can sit on my knee, but not lean back fast... just now we were on the couch and she leaned in to hug me and play punch my shoulder and uuffff..... the uterus must of hit my lungs or something, cause my breath went right out of me.. She is being gentle... and I am too, but it is near impossible for her to be near me without bumping my stomach... is this a concern?

i had the same concerns and i was told by my doc that the baby is very well protected and it would take a very hard hit for the baby to be affected. I recently had a fall and landed on my tummy and freaked out and saw the doc and she told me that it is no concern for worry as there is the placenta and padding to protect the baby. If you are still concerned talk to the doc and the midwife and they will put your mind at ease. Hope this helps. xoxox

babies are very well cushioned in there. As long as she doesn't JUMP on your tummy, the baby should be just fine. If you're really concerned, ask your doctor to check your fluid level and also give advice as to how much bumping your tummy can take. : )
The major concern with abdominal trauma is a detached placenta, but just hugging a child shouldn't be able to do that.

I fell down the stairs at 6 mo. MD said not to worry about the baby, there is more than enough cousion in there for all the bumps, knocks and collisions for you little one. Your body may hurt or feel bruised, unless you notice fluid leaks, or blood, I would not be overly concerned. children are children not matter what and will always be a bit rambunctuous.

You have nothing to really to worry about your daughter is doing what all kids do when mommy is pregnant in my mind i believe that the baby is so well protected i am pregnant with my third and my other two are always bumping and pushing and poking but so far no problems i asked my doctor about it because i am extremely high risk and my dr told me that i don't have much to worry about because children don't have enough force behind their push to cause any damage

how old is your daughter? is she old enought to understand that there is a baby in your 'belly'? my 4 yr old nephew understood when his mom was prego. He was also very gentle and would say 'mom, i want to give the baby a hug'.

If shes old enough to understand, explain it to her.

But your daughter leaning back on your belly wont hurt the baby. the baby is so well protected that really only a massive blow will hurt it. If you have more concerns, bring it up at your next dr's appointment.

little bumps are not going to hurt the baby. As you get bigger and bigger your stomach is going to bump more things then your child as it gets in the way. Just be careful.
