me and my girlfriend wondered about this earlier watching a medieval times movie and wondered how did women get around when their pms kicked in.... i dont think they had pads back then did they??
what do ya think??

They used rags and washed them. This technique was used up to the last century even. My grandma grew up during the depression and she said they would just use rags, wash them, and then reuse them.

Great question! Women back then used whatever material was available during their period, and as far as PMS, they probably just had to "deal" with it. I truly feel for those women, since Prozac, Annaprox, and THE Pill hadn't made the scene. Prozac alone would have saved lives, and prevented wars. Annaprox would have cured the horrible cramping, and the Pill would have shortened & decreased the flow down to 3 days, as opposed to the historical 7 days. Making "whoopee" more enjoyable, and periods an non-issue, really. The "good old days" weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems..." Billy Joel-Keeping The Faith.

I think they used rags and had to wash them out by hand.Kinda nasty I sure am glad I am a woman of the "future".
