Before you blame the strike culture you should know that India is an agricultural country. We used to export food to more than 16 countries and because this stupid industrialization our food production has gone down and now we are forced import food grains from other countries. Industrialization is needed but replacing fertile lands. These industrial groups like Tata, Bata or some body else every body wants only fertile lands close to cities. Why can't they build their industries on barren lands away from cities. Reason may any thing what Mamata did in Bengal is 100% right and I wish more and more Mamatas arise in other states too. Hail Mamata.

Well don't take me otherwise, but its an inate nature of bengalis to protest for everything and anything. I was shocked while I was in Kolkatta last year. The FM stations used to pass on regular updates about the various strikes and dharnas taking place in different parts of the city. It seems the people in Kolkatta get paid for holding protest march and strikes. They'll call for a strike for a 2 paise raise in bus fair, but then gona go ahead and vote for the same govt in the next elections. So what are they protesting for coz they themselves are responsible for all the so called injustice meted to them. If people in west bengal protest against the govt to the govt then what are they gaining. Instead why dont you guys remove your oppressors from power. Else no point cribbing and striking down the city. This is the reason for the steady decilne of Kolkatta and West Bengal in my opinion.
