Does anyone have a direct qoute from the book? I would like to know the page number but it is not neccessary.

I'm not quite sure what you are looking for. So here's a quote from "A Great and Terrible Beauty" by Libba Bray:

"There are no birds. No flowers. No sunset. There's an eerie grayness to everything beyond the bright door. The empty boat is still on the river, stuck fast in a thin sheet of ice." p. 389.

And here's another for good measure:
"We're building a house of cards. One wrong question can send the whole tower tumbling before we reach the top." p. 214
