I'm in Virginia. Ok well I'm in driver's ed right now, I got my permit on August 16th and it'll be 9 months on May 16th. I'm in driver's education right now, and it'll be over by the end of this month. Can I start behind the wheel right after I get out of driver's ed even if its not May? If so, will I be able to use the paper/provisional license?

Why ask us? Ask your driver's ed teacher, or the licensing department in your state.

And, if the law says nine months, that's exactly how long you'll have to wait.

where i'm at you get a permit at 16 a provisional at 17 and a basic at 18...if you get the permit at 16 you have a year till your provisional...but you can wait until 16 1/2 to get your permit and still get the provisional on time because you have to have the permit for at least 6 months. if you wait past 16 1/2 you don't get your provisional on time. i don't really get what you're asking at all but i figure it doesn't hurt to tell you what i know. or you could wait 12 hrs and call your dmv and ask them

Okay, first of all, repeatedly asking a question won't get it asked. Ask your drivers ed teacher, beceause it varies from state to state to provence to provence, where I live its 1 years, I know of places wehre its up to 2 years. Call the Licencing department and ask someone who know, common, use your brain.

You will just need to have someone of proper age with you when you drive. Other than that, you can drive with the provisional permit.
