It depends on what type of rock you like.
Third Day in my humble opinion is the best Christian Rock Band out there. It doesn't sound all happy and overproduced like a lot of Christian Music. Its heavy on the guitars with EXCELLENT vocals and they do both harder songs as well as acoustic. They are really good-they might be comparable to Black Crowes-but not QUITE as funky. Maybe between Black Crowes and the Wallflowers. Trul though they have their own sound-just trying to give you a feel for them.
Another awesome band is Audio Adrenaline-they're vocalist is amazing and they're lyrics are fun and moving at the same time-they also have a lot of bizarre twists in their sound-the first couple of CD's they put out had several different musical styles all on one CD.
If you like driving power/dance/punk then the Newsboys are pretty good. I don't know if I'd call them rock though-too hyper for that.
If you like really good lyrics with melodic songs-Steven Curtis Chapman is really good-he's more light but still good stuff.
If you like Metal then I'm not as informed as I used to be-most Christian metal is hit or miss. Don't buy ANY Christian Metal that you haven't heard the entire album first. Too many good band names and creative album covers make you think you're getting something good and it ends up being garbage.
I think a lot of Christian Rock bands went into the Christian Rock scene because they were so terrible at regular rock-they thought they might have a better shot at a Christian audience because there's more demand for good Christian rock than there are good Christian Bands.
Sad but true.

I really like Kutless- they have a great sound. My hubby likes Skillet, but they're a little too hard for my style.
