In less than a year i'll be moving to Florida and I have no idea how to handle being the new kid in school. I'm not super repulsive or anything, but like everyone else, I want to be popular and confident. I haven't always been the..well..most confident person in the world. I want to change everything around and overall, become a better and more open person. Any tips? Ideas?

Whatever your interests are, join clubs that will give you enjoyment and help you meet people with the same interest. At all costs, be yourself and let others know that you are friendly, either by a big smile or simply saying hello and introducing yourself to the person you sit next to in classes. Show a sincere interest in other people, every one responds to that.

Being the new kid in class is pretty hard because everyone else has there own little groups and they are just as curious as who you are. Immediately when you arrive you will find those people that are automatically nice to you and others extremely distant (remember never judge a book by its cover, give everyone a chance). Smile alot, be confident, dont act clingy too soon and talk to as many people when they are by themselves so that they can later introduce you to a bigger group! Much better than one against 5! Good Luck! Don't worry you will be settling in, in no time. Just remember don't wait too long to show your true self or you will soon risk fading in the distance!!

A new school is a new start & whilst there may be some mean people out there you should find that others are excited to have someone new to talk to and make friends with. Being popular is not everything, its better to be a loyal, friendly person that others can trust. If you are these things then being popular shouldn't be a problem.

I moved to AL from MI when I was in highschool. It is harder than normal school changes because the social norms and rules change. I was quiet and watched the others for a while to sort of see who was most like me and went from there. It may take a little time but everthing will work out just fine.

Make sure you say hi to lots of people and introduce yourself. Join a sport or try out for cheerleading... some sort of school related extracurricular activity is definitely advisable if you want to be more confident. That way you get a chance to meet people and for them to get to know you and to do something fun!!!

Just forget about being a new kid at school and act as though you've been there your whole life. Either that or change your style(clothes and stuff) =]. cali is kind of like florida so if you are from cali don't worry(cali's style is awesome!!!) p.s. boost your confidence some. no one is perfect.

Be friendly, be yourself, and dont do things to impress the other kids. As long as you are outgoing and take care of your self you will be fine. Keep in touch with your old friends when you move. Good luck!

Just be yourself and give yourself time and your new classmates time to get to know who you are. You will quickly find who is worth having for a friend and who is not. Make them want to be your friend by being happy, polite and sincere. This could be a great adventure for you. You never know who you will meet!!!

Start out by finding out what clubs/groups are available in school and join the ones that pertain to what you are interested in. There you will meet kids who share your intersts and VOILA instant friends.
