i own a repair shop, and i get as many of one ,,as i do the other to repair,,so in a way there both right,,it all depends on how good anything is taken care of,,these days people are really taking care of their vehicles better,,either one on them would be a good choice,,i had to make that choice a few years ago,and i took the Chevy,,and its been a good one,,i have only replaced the radiator in it,,so i cant complain any at all,,what you need to do is go and drive a few of them,,and see which one you like the best,,i did ,and like i said,,i liked the Chevy better,,good luck ,,i hope this help,s.

Toyota's reliability has traditionally been much better than Chevrolet. In previous years Toyota's reach was limited due to the fact that they had a limited lineup of trucks. They now offer Trucks that are full size and just as powerfull as Chevy and Ford. Toyota's fuel economy is also usually better. This combined with their long standing dedication to quality would make me suggest the Toyota. It is going to come down to personal preferance though. Some don't wish to support a company that is foreign. (they are now mostly built in North America). Two more reasons to buy Toyota. Resale value, and their commitment to safety.

Check Consumer Reports out.
If by "better" you mean more reliable, will retain resale value better, rides and handles better and has a nicer interior that is better designed ergonomically, then YES, the Toyota is better.
Chevy has the advantage if you want more engine choices, for example if you need a 1 ton diesel or you want a dually for pulling horse trailers.
For anything else as far as 1/2 ton pickups go, the Toyota is the better driving, longer lasting, more reliable truck--- and it's BUILT IN AMERICA by AMERICANS on top of it. Chevy builds half their trucks in Canada and Mexico so don't kid yourself.
FYI: Dodge Rams are built in Mexico and have no Mercedes parts in them whatsoever and are just as unreliable as every other American vehicle built in Mexico.
The ONLY Dodge truck to benefit from Mercedes quality engineering is the Sprinter full size van. It is 100% Mercedes with a Dodge badge on it. Only Dodge worth buying too!
Soon Toyota will be building diesel and one-ton trucks too, out of their new Texas factory and that will be the beginning of the end for the Dumbestics, unless they get some serious fuel economy and quality control in place.

Toyota, Their aspects could be greater, yet final longer. I even have owned chevy and toyota, and with a chosen i might pick the toyota. each and every so often it takes a jointly as to get the area in. and because all this recession and factories the way they're some aspects take longer than different ones. you may get each and every so often over 300000 miles on a toyota motor. Chevy cavaliers fortunate if u get 0.5 that on a motor.

Toyota and Chevy aren't even comparable. Chevy's quality is horrible in newer cars and will be going under sometime shortly. Toyota is a great brand for cars, reliable, good resale, and have good warranties. Although for a truck, I would get a dodge. Nobody can compete with dodge trucks. Their styling, reliability, power, handling, and they are just an all around good truck. It is the closest thing to a Mercedes truck you can get, it has alot of German engineering in it since Chrysler has merged with Mercedes. Not to mention that you can get a loaded ram 1500 for a fraction of the price of a Toyota. I have had several newer chrysler products including a 2006 dodge dakota and I have never touched any of them. Here are some links:

GOOD LUCK!!

For a truck, Buy Ford, they are the longest lasting, and most dependable. I work in a garage, and i see the most GM trucks coming into our shop out of every company. I see the least fords. The ford trucks i do see are coming in for maintance with 300 000km + on them. I drive a Ford truck and I have never had a problem with it, The previous owner, a family friend of mine, The only problem he had with it was he was on the highway and someone flicked a big rock up and put it through his grill, through his rad and through the rad fan. But no matter what you were driving that would have happened. I would buy Ford, they are the best over all truck.

I think Toyota or Ford has a better reliability myself. My grandpa has a Ford and my mom has a Chevy and my grandpa just uses his and my mom has to matenence hers often. Toyota holds the value the best. So I guess if you plan to resale it in the future buy a Toyota.

10 years ago, toyota wins hands down, but now any car you buy new (shitty 6,000$s to WOW 500000$ ones) will alll run atleast 150,000 miles without major problems, toyota is all hype (my uncle works their and used to work at fords engineering and theyr the same protocol he said) Chevy in fact makes far better Pickup trucks with better engines and powertrains etc. theyr fullsize SUVs also kill any competition
