I used to check out and read a gothic romance book from the library - all I remember is that on the cover it showed the heroine on the back of a black horse with a castle in the background. It was your basic damsel in distress, victorian gothic romance. Does the cover ring any bells? I sure would love to read it again.

sorry don't remember the plot. but I do remember that the horse wasn't just a affectation for the cover, it actually figured into the story. I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping it rings a bell with someone whose read it. The woman was in a blue dress and the horse was black.

you have quite a task ahead of you if you're going on a search for one gothic romance out of the thousands on the book shelves.

Of all the genre in writing/reading romance is the largest. at nearly half of the books bought, of those lots and lots are gothic romance. They are so plentiful that romances of all sub genres(with a few well know authors) are taken off of the shelves and replaced by a new selection after a very short duration.

All of the gothic romances have a damsel in distress, standing, or riding in front of or near a castle, or ruin of some type in a hilly terrain or forest. I suggest that you don't give up the search but I doubt very much that you'll come across the book unless its in someone attic, stores won't have it anymore, and its doubtful the library will either, thou you could give that a try.

Enjoy the search, you've got lots of good reading ahead of you.

Sorry, as the people above have said, you're unlikely to get an answer based only on the cover design.

If you're interested in Gothic romances though, I can recommend "The Monk" by Matthew Gregory Lewis.

It would help if you knew some of the plot details or character names.
