That varies quite a bit from child to child. My daughter started around 3 months, I think partly due to me working with her. I would just hold it in front of her and when she reached for it, I'd just let her take it. She'd drop it alot at first, but soon she was a pro (although I still loved to hold her and feed her a couple times a day). I know some babies who didn't hold their bottles until they were more like 6-8 months old. There really isn't a specific age, just whenever they realize they can do it themselves!

Varies.... Anytime between 4 months and about 6 months. He/she won't just magically start doing it, so you need to help by placing the baby's hands on the bottle and then holding the onto the bottle by gently wrapping your hand around his as he drinks. Eventually, let go. It won't take long before you won't have to "practice" holding the bottle, and he'll be able to do it on his own. Just be patient and know that every baby is different. There isn't some magical time.

my baby has recently started holding hers and she is four months old. Its sooo cute. But I was propping a bottle into her mouth to feed her at 3 and a quarter months because she did not eat if i was holding her for a while and that worked fine too.

Abigail was 2 months old. She could hold a 4 ounce bottle. Now that she'll be 4 months old, she's starting to hold an 8 ounce.

are you aware that infants only form connections between their brain cells when they are being held?

babies are not supposed to hold their bottles, remember?

you know you have been told repeatedly that infants are always to be held when eating. this is for brain development, nurturance, and to safeguard their health.

a baby with a formula bottle is already having her iq hurt by at least 10 points, being put at higher risk for diabetes and several cancers, and is being deprived of her birthright.

so the answer is = never. You hold them and feed them, giving them at least the warmth, nurture, brain cell development, eye contact, and togetherness if you can't give them the human milk.
