In a case fraught with ethical questions, the parents of a severely mentally and physically disabled child have stunted her growth to keep their little "pillow angel" a manageable and more portable size.
The uterus and breast tissue of the bedridden 9-year-old girl were removed at a Seattle hospital, and she received large doses of hormones to halt her growth. She is now 4-foot-5; her parents say she would otherwise probably reach a normal 5-foot-6.
The case has captured attention nationwide and abroad via the Internet, with some decrying the parents' actions as perverse and akin to eugenics. Some ethicists question the parents' claim that the drastic treatment will benefit their daughter and allow them to continue caring for her at home.
University of Pennsylvania ethicist Art Caplan said the case is troubling and reflects "slippery slope" thinking among parents who believe "the way to deal with my kid with permanent behavioral problems is to put them into permanent childhood."

She is disabled. She has the mind of a 3 month old, but her body was still growing.
Her parents and doctors went in front of a 40 person ethics board who agreed that the surgeries to remove her breast tissue and uterus would be alright.
They claim that it would make the daughter more comfortable and that they would be able to care for her better.

Simply said, it is easier to care for a 'child' sized person (under hundred Lbs), than one who is larger. Consider that she has to be bathed, diapers changed, fed, carried from bed to chair, to car (for hospital/dental visits). Can you pick up a hundred pounds? Can you do it twenty or thirty years from now?
Due to a medical mistake, my sister in law is completely bed ridden, blinded, cerebal palsy, and severly brain-damaged with the mental/verbal abilities of a three year old. She just turned 48 years and weighs 180 lbs (exercise is out of the question-she cannot walk, swim, move her arms in a purposeful manner) and must complete care around the clock. My 70 year old mother in law cannot care for her full time, and spends $300 each day (plus free room and board for three students) for nursing students to help around the clock. Unfortunate, but a smaller person is easier to care for.

Because, she will always be mentally 8 or nine years old. If her parents will have to care for a 32 year old child when she grows up, yet will have to deal with a child's mentality.
They argue that since she will only be able to comprehend as a child it would be easier to care for her if she remain as a child (physically). Especially when it comes to snuggling and doing the nasty side of things, wipe the behind and stuff.

First are you sure they did? A lot of the accusations leveled against people are false.
How did you find out, what was your source?
There are a lot of urban legends in the world, a lot of them are being reported in magazines like weekly world news and national enquirer as though they were proven facts. And some of them get onto DumFox news.
