Just hold your head up high and act like you dont care what anyone says, even if you do because if anyone is mean to you, its just to get a rise out of you and if it doesnt work they move on. The first step to being yourself is accepting yourself. Try to accept who you are and be unashamed because once people realize you actually LIKE yourself then they see that theres no use in trying to make you different than you are.

Your question implies that you are being pressured to do something that will make you look different. The answer to your question, therefore, is that you cannot be yourself without being different. In fact, as each of is inherently different, it is impossible to be yourself without being different. My advice to you is to do what you think is right. If your friends don't like it, then they are not your friends. Also, I strongly suspect that you may be in jr or high school, as that is the time when this is most likely to happen and most likely to have an affect on you. Remember this - once you are out of school, it will all seem like a long-forgotten bad dream. None of it will matter anymore. And it will seem that way very quickly. You'd be surprised.

Be yourself. Enjoy yourself. Have respect for you! Don't start bending to peer pressure. It's a bad habit that is hard to stop. If you want to have a drink, have a drink. If you want to try Thai, do it. If you want to stay in on Saturday night and read a book about quantum physics, so be it.
In high school or college settings - you will realize that the boy you spent a year manipulating yourself for will be out of your life in two years.

Be true to yourself, and do things because you want to, not because it is popular with the group. Your true friends will understand.
